Can I charge my EV at Alexander House?

Absolutely. There are 2 x Char.gy 6.9kw chargers on the wall of The Orangery, opposite the main house. You are welcome to plug in here. You will need the Char.gy app which you can download for both Apple and Android.

Can I have my food delivered/where is the nearest town, supermarket & local facilities?

Absolutely you can have your food delivered. Sainsburys, Tesco, Asda and Waitrose will all deliver to Alexander House. Please use the postcode PH31PR for groceries deliveries (this is NOT the correct postcode for sat nav though!). Remember to get your orders in with Simon Howie, The Scottish Butcher and with Café Mimis, both of whom also deliver. Café Mimis boxes are really rather special!

Our nearest supermarket is our local Coop which can also sometimes deliver within 4 hours, and mostly same day, and is open between 7am and 10pm, just 2.5 miles down the road for pick ups: https://www.coop.co.uk/store-finder/PH3-1AA/124-high-street

Fridge Unpack – If you would like our team to unpack your shopping into the fridge we are delighted to do this for you before your arrival for a small charge, for the staff sweetie tin. Please organise it well before your stay though, just to make sure that the timings work for the housekeeping team (contact details below).

Simon Howie, The Scottish Butcher has a wonderful shop on the High Street and Alexa Hunter has a Michelin restaurant collection of fruit and vegetables (and does deliver to our local Michelin starred restaurants!).
You will also find your nearest Pharmacy, Post Office, a selection of lovely restaurants and just about anything you could need in Auchterarder. For larger purchases, Dunblane and Crieff are 15 minutes drive, Perth and Stirling are just 20 minutes away by car.

Our nearest Train Station is Gleneagles, our nearest Airports are Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee, all just 1 hour drive away.

Do you provide Fire Pits?

Due to the increasing incidence of wildfires, and due to our location and high winds, we cannot offer fire pits, sorry!  If you’d like to hire a gas BBQ for your outdoor cooking, or an electric Raclette set for indoor grilling/BBQ, and to ensure that you can use it in all weathers, we have them available to hire at £25 per stay, just add them to your booking extras, or pop us through an email to info@alexanderhousescotland.com.  Portable firepits/BBQs are expressitgly forbidden, due to their fire risk.

Do you provide linen?

Yes. All your beds will be made up prior to your arrival. and we provide towels and make-up facecloths, and leisure towels for the hot tub (blue stripes).

Do you provide hairdryers?

Yes, in our Yurts. No, in our Lorries.

What kitchen equipment can I expect to find?

Each of our Glamping units has 2 ring induction hob. We provide a kettle, pots and pans and everything you need to cater for the number of guests allowed to stay in your property, and a few spares, including, of course, wine glasses!

You will find your complimentary items in the green boxes in the yurts.

Bramble, Heather and Juniper also have wood burners with integral ovens (you need to be competent at firelighting). These need special Heat logs which burn hotter than standard logs. Please DO NOT use anything else in these, as the sparks from the flues may set light to your unit!!!

Bramble, Heather & Juniper have undercounter fridges with small freezer compartments.

Thistle has a small built in electric fridge, with small freezer compartment.

What else do I need to bring?

Please remember that Alexander House is self-catering, but we do provide a small welcome pack with tea, coffee, 1 large ‘Who Gives a Crap’ toilet roll, Beekind shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and hand wash in the bathrooms, and ask that you try and also use eco-friendly products when you stay with us too.

We provide cleaning products for your use throughout your stay.

The things that we suggest you DO bring:

  • Yourselves and whatever you may need to eat, including cooking condiments
  • A good pair of wellies or walking boots – it is such beautiful countryside around AH
  • Loo rolls
  • An extra bag of ice for your drinks, our fridges do not have ice makers
  • Spare Tupperware (just bring some of those takeaway dishes you never know what to do with!) for picnics and to take home your culinary delights.
  • Baking parchment, cling film and tin foil
  • Your swimsuit for the Hot Tub (please ☺)
  • Lastly, your sense of adventure!

Can I bring dogs?

Yes, 1 dog is welcome in Juniper & Thistle. NOT in Bramble & Heather. Please book your furry friend in ahead of time.

We love dogs. We charge £25 per dog (just for the extra cleaning) & you’ll find a wee doggie welcome pack on your arrival, with washable vetbed, and bowls to borrow during your stay.

But we do have a few rules to keep your dog, other dogs, children and guests staying with us, our livestock &wildlife ALL safe and sound….. (that’s a lot of people and animals to keep safe and well☺)

Rule No 1: Pick up No 2’ s – There will be poo bags in your doggie bag, with our compliments. There are some real nasties in Dog Poo, that can make our livestock and other wildlife really sick, and the nasties in it can blind humans – if it’s there, children will find it!

Rule No 2: Dogs must always be on leads in the grounds of the property, down the field in front of the house, and on our driveway, which then leads to a Core Path (Foot Path).

Rule No 3: Please respect the privacy of others in the other properties at AH, and the allergies of those that might follow you, by keeping dogs off the soft furnishings, and in your grounds only….Not everyone is quite as dog friendly as we are!

Rule No 4: Please also be aware of livestock in all the fields around you, at AH and also once you are on the Core Path. Farmers are within their rights to shoot, and ask questions later!!! There will be a lead in your doggie pack, with our compliments, and is yours to take with you when you leave us too. You’ll find info about both on, and off lead, dog walks in the area, in your arrival info packs. It is dog heaven here☺.

Rule No 5: Have a brilliant stay with your furry friend, we wouldn’t be without ours either.

What do you provide for children?

We love small people and can provide you with travel cots. We don’t provide cot linen and bedding though, so please bring your baby grow, sheets, monitor, etc with you.

We provide children’s plates and cutlery for very small people.

There are toys and games, and outdoor seating too, but of course there’s lots of fresh air and space to just play!

Do you provide logs?

We supply:

  • Bramble & Heather – 10kgs heatlogs (May-September), 20kgs heatlogs per night of your stay (October, November, March, April), 20kgs kiln dried logs, 1 pack of kindling and 1 pack of firelighters. Subject to availability we will also leave a pack of long burn heatlogs in winter.
  • Thistle – 20kgs kiln dried logs, 1 pack of kindling and one pack of firelighters.
  • Juniper – 20kgs kiln dried logs, 1 pack of kindling, 10kgs heatlogs and one pack of firelighters.

If you use up all your stores, our team are onsite Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm (except bank holidays) for you to purchase extra or on a weekend, the nearest places to purchase additional logs are either Coop in Auchterarder, Aldi & B&M in Crieff, or the local Garages.

Only heatlogs may be used in the Yurt wood burners, (the sparks from poor logs can create sparks which might set light to your yurt!). Standard kiln dried hardwood logs are to be used in the hot tub wood burners.

Onsite bag of Logs £10 or 10kg bag of Heatlogs £12.50, Long Burn Heatlogs £12.50, Kindling – £5, Firelighters – £2.50.

What heating & hot water & power is there?

In Bramble and Heather, there is a woodburner (with integral oven), electric towel rail and/or electric blanket on the beds. Hot water is provided by large tanks in the Yurt bathrooms. Bramble and Heather have sockets and USB ports.

In Juniper there are two electric heaters and a wee gas combi boiler for your hot water. Please don’t expect a 2 minute high speed bath fill though, it’s more like a good old fashioned 10 minute bath fill. But what’s the rush? You’re on holiday! You’ll find a socket tower with 2 spare sockets, and USB/USBC charge points. In Juniper’s “Sitooterie” you’ll find a woodburner (with integral oven).

In Thistle you’ll find an electric radiator, and a small electric heater for your water, and an electric shower, please don’t expect monsoon rain showers though! You’ll also find several electric sockets in the lorry and a USB charging port.

Hot Tubs?

Think of them as wood heated giant outside baths!

Each of your Glamping Units has a hottub (of course!). Bramble & Heather have oval 2 person hot tubs with external log burners on their decks. Thistle & Juniper have slightly larger round hot tubs, with inbuilt log burners.

You will find instructions in your unit and videos on your Digital Property Guide about how to lay the fires and heat up the tubs. The hot tubs take approximately 2-3 hours to heat to temperature.

Hot Tub pre-lights in our hot tubs can be arranged with the housekeeping team at £25 per light, and the tub will be ready for arrivals between 4-5pm.

All our hot tubs are cleaned, sanitised and refilled fresh for every arrival and instructions as to how to empty and refill your outside tubs are to be found in each of your units, with chemical dispensers also supplied.

Cold Plunge?

Thistle & Juniper have cold plunge whisky barrels. Think of them as outdoor cold baths. You just need to fill these with cold water from the hose to use them as a cold plunge next to your hot tub. Brrr….. but we’re told contrast therapy is good for you. Remember to drain them after use…. & be very careful climbing in and out of them.

Please remember, that going hot to cold is a shock to the body so please, please read up on contrast therapy before you try it, if you have a heart defect or other types of illness this is not recommended for you!
